Pre-NYC Trip Blog: Brandy

Hi everyone I'm Brandy Senas and I am happy to be going to NYC with NPAC.

I'm going on this trip to see what it's like being away from home. I was hoping we would be able to perform but just watching the Broadway shows is every performing arts person’s wish and a dream come true for me.

I'm just so excited to know that I'll be able to see and experience things that I probably would never have, if I was not given this chance. I think being able to see a Broadway show away from home is so exciting. I think the highlight of the trip that I'm ecstatic about is seeing Kinky Boots, because one of my favorite people in the world (Brendon Urie) is playing the lead. I also think touring the colleges will give me the chance to see what it's like if I plan on continuing my education and to also get a feel of what life is going to look like after high school.

I’m also excited to see the 9/11 memorial museum. Not only because it was such a big tragedy of the century, but because I feel our generation should be more familiar with things like this. It's been happening around the world and soon enough it's going to occur more often, and each one is gonna be just as heartbreaking as the last. So I feel we should really educate ourselves more about tragedies such as 9/11.

Lastly, I'm very excited to experience the Broadway workshop and get somewhat a glimpse of what it will be like if I do pursue performing as my future.

I am hoping to learn different types of techniques and skills from the Broadway shows by watching the way they sing and dance. Hopefully I'll be able to get helpful tips when we get to talk to the cast of Miss Saigon, so I can use it to be a better performer. I also think being able to eat different things and eat at different places might encourage me to be a food blogger as well.

I'm hoping this trip will help me learn life skills for the future like being independent and how to adapt to new places. My mom is always telling me how the mainland is a totally different world so I am excited to experience a new place.

I’m so thankful to have the opportunity to be able to go on this educational trip with NPAC.
