Pre-NYC Trip Blog: Alysia

Aloha, my name is Alysia Kepa’a and in this blog, I am writing about what I want to see and do on my upcoming trip to New York.

The reason why I am going on this trip is because I’ve always wanted to be in New York City since I was little. I’ve always wanted to see Broadway and the Big Apple. I’ve also always wanted to see the Museum of Modern Art and the 9/11 Memorial.

I am really excited to see their famous toy store, FAO Schwarz. It’s the toy store with the piano on the floor that you can step on. I am really excited to play Chopsticks on the piano there. I’m also really excited to get an autograph from Jessie Mueller, Lea Michele and Chris Colfer because they are my favorite celebrities and I hope we run into them in New York. I’m really excited to see little Italy because even though it’s not like Paris they have this bakery shop that I found, Ferrara Bakery and Cafe (195 Grand St, New York, NY 10013). I want to eat a strawberry cake there. I also really want to go to Hershey's Chocolate World because I love chocolate and they have a lot of different types of chocolates. I want to eat a street hotdog, and basically any street food. Lastly, Broadway is one of the things that I’m excited to see.

I hope that I get to learn about how the actresses and actors get to where they are today. For example, when we get to eat dinner with the Miss Saigon cast, I want to ask them questions about how they got to where they are. This may be helpful because I may or may not want to pursue performing arts in the future. I also want to find out, how do you get into NYU, besides applying because I may apply there in the future.

This trip would help me in the future because I may want to be in the performing arts when I grow up. I think participating in the Broadway workshop will teach me skills that will help me in the performing arts in the future. This trip will also help me in the future by not only going on the trip itself, but by learning to work for my spending money. Prior to this trip I am working at the Hawai’i State Fair to earn money to spend on this trip.

I really can’t wait to go on this trip!
